In MXF specification: S377M
Set name byte14 byte 15
Preface 01 2f
Sound_Essence_desc 01 42
I encoded an mxf file by mxfgui.exe and found out the below value:
Sound_Essence_desc 01 48
I find out that many applications have different value for BYTE_15, e.g.
DM source clip 45
Sound_Essence_desc 47
Mpeg_video_desc 51
Has the value for BYTE_15 registered to private key by different company? Snell & Wilcox, Avid or Sony.
How I process these unknown values for metadata set?
Did the latest MXF specification define it? This version of my S377M is published in 2004.

What universal label ?

If it is private key that is registered, then byte9 item designator is set 0E.
Just ignore those dark metadata.

I hear new S377M will be standarded, but I do not know public draft pdf.

If you are interested in the new revision of 377M it might be worth joining SMPTE to get access to the current drafts and get the opportunity to comment on it.

You will also get to go see all the other draft documents, go to meetings, vote on all the documents etc.

It costs $135 per year and in my opinion is worth every penny </advert>

I know this reply not match this topic.

I join smpte individual member and pay $135,
But I could not find draft link.
SMPTE Online Journal has some papers.
SMPTE Library has only some articles.
Member Directory only show other member informations.

Thanks.

Once you have joined you can ask one of the admin staff, such as Mark Hyman ( mhynam {atsign} smpte [dot] org ) to give you the username and password to the SMPTE engineering FTP site (eng.smpte.org).

There you will find all the meeting resources including current drafts.

Also make sure that you join the following groups on the SMPTE website:

* TC-W25 Metadata and Wrappers
* TC-W25-WG10 MXF Implementers' Group

You will then get loads of interesting e-mail about MXF.

Be aware that the politics of these groups can be complex, so it might take a while to follow all the subtleties of the conversations!
